Oil production to hit 5mn B/D in post-sanction era

TEHRAN, Oct. 19 (MNA) – Deputy oil minister has announced that Iran’s oil production capacity will reach 5 million barrels per day after the removal of sanctions.

Attending the opening ceremony of the Oil and Energy Conference in Tehran, Roknodin Javadi described the main capabilities and potentials of Iran’s oil and gas industry during the post-sanction era and said Iran possesses huge reserves of oil and gas, large consumer market as well as skilled human resources.

Director of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) further deemed one of the priorities of oil industry for the post-sanction era as the improvement of business environment in Iran by using new technologies; “accordingly, increasing efficiency of power plants, waste reduction and establishing intelligent electricity transmission and distribution are among our top priorities,” he asserted.

Deputy oil minister enumerated several other projects which are being undertaken including improvement of drilling techniques, implementation of deep, smart and horizontal drilling technologies, conversion of natural gas to polypropylene, increasing capacity of petrochemical production by eliminating existing barriers as well as creation of GPL and LNG production units.

The official said the new generation of Iranian oil contracts will be officially unveiled next month and added: “meanwhile, new opportunities to invest in Iran’s oil and gas industry will be introduced at a conference in Tehran attended by foreign companies.”

“Iran plans to raise daily production of oil to 5 million barrels and that of gas to 1.4 billion cubic meters,” Javadi concluded.
